The Wrong Side of Town (1989)

After the break-up of The Boon I started playing the open mike night at the 8121 Club below The Coconut Teazer on Sunset just down the street from the house on the cover of “Porch Music“. That’s where I met Clay Goldstein. Clay’s hard-driving humorous harmonica would become the signature sound of the band for two and half albums.

Meanwhile my association with the band Mary’s Danish for whom I opened some shows {that they were opening for bigger bands like Wall Of Voodoo and The Red Hot Chili Peppers) led me to Billy Lincoln whose Eddie Van Shredding instantly super charged the bluesy jam songs Clay and I were getting a strong reaction to from the 8121 crowd.

Billy produced these demos which I consider our first record in a Jerry-rigged temporary studio in back of David King’s house and several of these songs would remain in The Previous sets right up until the last gigs we played…so far.
