Who Am I Today?
After I’d stayed in the studio the first night of the LA uprisings of ’92 the first member of the band to return to the studio was Marshall Thompson who recorded my performance of this acoustic track. He was rewarded for his devotion to the music by having his truck burgled, losing a book of precious baseball cards. I will never understand why they were in his truck in the first place, but he never made me feel shitty about it
Many years later this song was re-created by an artist named Konstantin Lukin who invited me to collaborate with him on the track. I posted it below.
Lyrics
WHO AM I TODAY?
Everybody’s frightened
and everyone’s scared
Everyone’s frightened of everyone here
Everyone here’s a little scared of me
Who am I today?
Everybody wants and everyone needs
Everyone needs something to feed
Everyone wants a little piece of me
Who am I today?
Hold me close
up to your ear
and you will hear
the sea
and hold me tight
up to your heart
and you will feel
your own heart now
Everybody’s looking at everyone else
and all we can ever see is ourselves
Listen
Can you hear us scream?
Look at Me!
Who am I today?
You tell me
Who am I today?
You tell me
