This song was the one that started it all for me and Andy Shmsuhkin.

In 2004 I was living in an Airstream trailer behind Andy Dick’s place and writing the songs that would become his “The Darkest Day of The Year” album. I pitched him “Punkin Lovin'” but he rejected it.

Shmushkin was hanging around, like a lot of people were in those days, and heard me playing the song. When he started singing along I knew we had to work together.

We recorded “Punkin Lovin'” with Willie Wisely and shot the video with director Sean Geer at Lisa Jenio’s house in Eagle Rock. When I snuck a CD into a package Andy’s reps were sending off to KROQ, they ended up playing it on the air (bleeped of course) which got the attention of National Lampoon who decided to host and release the video.

It was a genuine organic phenomenon, and it was fun. So we kept doing it.
