Jones’oponopono
“Jones’oponopono” is based upon the Hawaiian Ho’oponopono prayer that goes:
I’m sorry
Forgive me
I love you
Thank you
I recorded the song in my apartment at The Martin in Olympia in 2012 and added the horns in LA as one of the last musical parts for the album.
A lot of this record is about things that happened to me; things I didn’t deserve, and yet…in order to make this music I had to decide that everything in my life is mine. The people who hurt me had to play that role, just as I have to play the role I do in the lives of others.
Recognizing, de-escalating, and de-coding may not always lead to the love, forgiveness and gratitude embodied in the spirit of Ho’oponopono but that’s where it led me. This time.
