Here Is The Earth

“Here Is The Earth” is the song that ends the album proper and culimates the tunes that make up The Weather Suite.

Some days I listen to it and feel the hope that inspired me to write and sing it. Other times it’s not so easy. My cynicism runs deep but this song is a reminder of what it was like to believe like that before the fascists found the hundredth monkey.

Lyrics

HERE IS THE EARTH

“Mom”,
cried the kids
as they watched the other kids
hurl the brick
This
is the earth
where we live
the best place I’ve ever been to

Why don’t we run down the alleyways
and get everyone to say
“Peace”
one time
and maybe it’ll work if we
run down the alleyway
and get everyone to say
“Love”
three times a day

We
are alive
where we are
Call it here
Call it now

Why don’t we run down the alleyways and
get everyone to say
“Peace”
one time
and maybe it’ll work if we
run down the alleway and
get everyone to say
“Love”
three times a day

“Mom”
this we cried
The kids
is the earth
are alive
this we cried
as they watched
where we live
where we are
the kids
the other kids
the best place
Call it here
is
the
earth
