Get Outta My Head

“Get Outta My Head” was the last song written for the record.

I thought I was writing about an ex-girlfriend but it didn’t take me too long to realize it went way deeper than that. The song ended up becoming a powerful meditation for me. I hope it serves you just as well, if you need it.

Once we got into Sheldon Gomberg’s studio, the Rhythm Section Unknown pushed the arrangement from the plaintive shuffle I had initially crafted, into the hard driving soul pop song it became.

Ken Stringfellow added everything else in a monumental session at his studio in Bothell, Washington.

Lyrics

Get outta my head
Get outta my heart
That thing that you said just tore me apart
I thought I could take it and maybe I can
but when I run out of juice and I don’t have a plan I
made up this mantra
to get back on track
I don’t think you’ll like it
Oh no I know you won’t like it

So…
Get outta my head
Get outta my heart
Get outta my head
Get outta my heart

Get outta my head
Get outta my heart
I meant what I said from the end to the start
Ya taught me so much
and now that I know
I don’t think I like it
Oh no I know I don’t like it

So get out of my head
get out of my heart
get out of my head
get out of my heart

Get out of my head
Get out of my heart
Get outta my head and my heart and my heart and my head and my
Get outta my
Get outta my
Get outta my head and my heart and heart and my head and my…
Outta my head
Get outta my heart
Get outta my head
Oh yeah get outta my heart
