Dylan & Moses
“Dylan & Moses” is probably my favorite song on the record, if only because it was such a struggle to complete it.
Controversial subject matter aside, it’s just an odd song with lots of twists and turns and notes that have to be hit just right in order to convey what is intended.
I made an initial attempt at the track with a producer friend who found the rhythm to be too confounding so I had to start again with a drummer who nailed it, but later asked to have their name removed from the record for fear of being associated with the themes the album (and this song) address.
There were other technical hurdles and lessons to be learned during the year and a half or more it took to bring this song to completion, and now you can make of it what you will, along with a video from Rick Worley (set to be released this summer).
